I've heard a lot about this and I think it's fascinating. Makes sense to me. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Drop in a comment if you have any input.

Journey with us on our path to parenthood
James,
ReplyDeleteThe teachers at school do this with the babies. They start very young and are consistent with the same sign each time. It is amazing to see the little ones that can't talk, sign what they want, either milk, more or whatever they have learned. I would definately try learning it yourselves and teaching the new Russo. Their minds are little sponges just waiting to learn and absorb new information.
Hey James:
ReplyDeleteWhat Ive heard about this one is that sometimes its good and sometimes it can prohibit speech development. I have heard this first hand from parents who say the child learns sign language really fast and then learns to communicate without speech, thus delaying the need to speak. So just something to think about. I have two of my own and I truly believe children when develop when they are suppossed to. They learn to walk, speak and be kids when its their time. You cant and shouldnt compare the development of your child to someone else's child. That will be mistake #1. But I do say this, nothing wrong in trying, but back in our days, our parents didn't do all this and we turned out just fine! Loving the blog! Kiss Gigi For me! I love her and dont know her! LOL
